Be frightened

This year Vinokino will present to you what will most likely be the most brutal film you'll see for some time. Switchblade Romance is a slasher film with the right kind of attitude – true friends of gore and splatter will not be disappointed. Marie, played by the very sexy Cècile de France, is planning on spending a quiet weekend with her sultry best friend Alex (Maïwenn Le Besco) and her family in the countryside. Instead of sleeping in the guest room, Marie would rather spend the night in Alex's bed. This night, however, no one is going to get any sleep. A nasty sleazebag of a murderer attacks the family and kidnaps Alex, and in order to save the day, Marie has to try and save the girl of her dreams.

In Switchblade Romance, the young and talented director Alexandre Aja gives a new twist to the old clichés of horror films: there's running in a dark forest, hiding under a bed, surveillance camera shots – you name it. But Aja is able to add to this classic setting a brutality that goes beyond horror and gives the film an almost surreal tone. Camera work is exceptionally impressive and despite it's ultra-vicious content, Switchblade Romance will hold you in its grip till the very bloody end.

".this is a slick and sick little movie that will get under your skin and stay there for weeks."
Justin Bowyer, Empire

"De France in particular radiates a manic energy as she fights for Alex. She's a Sigourney Weaver-style survivalist, as brutal as she is lovely. Aja's unflinching embrace of the exploitation elements of the slasher genre only increases De France's ferocity as she defends herself at different points with a cement cutter and a "Walking Tall"-style two-by-four with a barbed-wire tip."
Robert K. Elder, Chicago Tribune .

NOTE!
If you get scared easily, this is not a film for you.
