Do you have the balls?

The optimistic drama comedy Guys and Balls stars twenty-something Ecki, who while working at the family bakery is the popular goalie of the football team of his small hometown. Then at the season finale match he makes a crucial mistake and on the top of that he ends up kissing a guy at the finale party. This is too much for his community, which values working-class heroes and real men.

Ecki's goodhearted parents are confused with Ecki being gay, and the community makes sure they get their share of the rude gay jokes aswell. Forward Udo, who has had a crudge towards Ecki ever since they were kids, influenses the team to turn their back to the gay goalie, and so Ecki is kicked out of the team. In the heat of the moment Ecki challenges his now former team to a match against an all-gay team. Now there's only one problem: where to find the ten other players?

Ecki leaves for Dortmund, where together with his sister Susanne he spreads the joyful tidings of football to the gay scene. The hilarious mission features many gay stereotypes from Beckham-loving queen to a bear threesome.

Films about teams often have one-sided supporting characters, but Guys and Balls gives dimensions to them aswell. Acting is solid, and use of camera angles in the game scenes is inventive. Evenly directed by Sherry Hormanin, Guys and Balls will amuse alose them, who really couldn't give a damn about football.
