Thirtysomething
Crisis? Even though you just bought your first sofa together with
your girlfriend. Marina (Lisa Gornick) thinks that everyone she
meets, from ex-girlfriends to a star lesbian-trend columnist,
is much better off and above all, in control of their lives. Relationship
to girlfriend, Romy (Raquel Cassidy from Teachers), breaks down
and Marina's quest to find out why her relationship dissolves
takes her on a journey where she collides with other characters
also involved in the investigation of lesbian love. Marina plunges
us into questions such as: Baby or Masterpiece? - What should
I do with my life? What is a man in a lesbian context - is he
a role model or a secret desire? Oh, and of course - the girlfriend
- Do I Love You? The truth is never simple, and the answers may
not be found even in therapy sessions.
Do I Love You? is the first British lesbian movie for a decade.
This insightful, but at the same time hilarious film has been
made with a small budget and a big heart. It was hailed as one
of the main films in the London Film Festival in 2003. The director-actress
Lisa Gornick herself arrives to Vinokino to present her film in
Helsinki.
