Claudio
(Thomas Trabbacchi) is in his thirties and HIV-positive, but he
is satisfied with his life. He lives in a steady relationship
with his boyfriend, is successful in his job and medication keeps
his illness in check. Just before their moving to a new city,
Claudio suddenly falls in love with a young, handsome waiter Andrea
(Riccardo Salerno) and is swept into a passionate affair with
him. Claudio comes to a point where he has to reconsider his attitude
towards his family, friends and his illness. Days is a compelling
drama about the difficult choices we make and the responsibilities
that come with them. The film doesn’t moralize, but instead
lets the audience decide for themselves how they feel about Claudio’s
decisions.
Laura
Muscardini’s Days resembles Cyril Collard’s Savage
Nights and Gregg Arak’s The Living End movies. Adjoining
theme for these films is addressing HIV as an everyday crisis
that forces us to reconsider our values. How can a person lead
a full life and at the same time tend to one’s own and other
people’s health
Days won the award for the best film in Seattle’s Lesbian
and Gay Film Festival. Director Laura Murcardi was also awarded
at the Los Angeles Outfest -festival.
